A Year In Photos…

March 16th, 2010

Below is a video created with images from the last year… Abby is One now and as I have been looking for images from the year for a book I’ll be creating – I also figured that an entire year in a slide-show shouldn’t be out of the question either.

On a geek note: I’ve been using Lightroom to manage the images I take both for www.DustinFinnPhotography.com, personal projects at www.DustinFinn.com and even for all the family stuff. The key here – is Key wording. Every time I place images into this program, I am asked to label images. I have been very lazy and pretty much just assign global keywords to an entire batch of images. So I was able to tell Lightroom to show me all images labeled “Abby” and it did… Boy did it. over 2000 images had been shot and saved that were key worded with her name.

So with that, I pulled images out for both the 1 year book I want to create – but also figured that these images could be jammed into a slide-show that for all intent purposes gets to use a song that’s been in my head forever. Thanks to the power of  http://www.facebook.com/Dustin.Finn someone recently posted the song and I was able to locate it and work it into my slide-show.

Here is Abby, a year in review of images:

Abby Turns One…

March 13th, 2010

An incredible showing of support from friends and family as we just completed an incredible First Birthday for Abby.
In hurricane conditions I might add.

Katie prepared what can only be described as the best themed birthday party and our friend Kristin totally nailed it with a custom birthday cake from an incredible book that Abby loves to look at.

Here is a quick slide-show of the Birthday Party:

Here is a really quick slide-show of just the cake that Kristin put together…

OK, I see it now…

January 24th, 2010

Having the rough week we had with the wake/funeral happening in the beginning and then just trying to get past everything it was nice to hang out at my in-laws with a few beers and horrible Jets Game (couldn’t even  care less who was playing). Throw in a little computer repair because people click things I tell them to never click and a meat loaf dinner (that was great), even the dozen or so times its repeated its existence to me – it was a great evening.

I took a few photos of Abby and after reviewing one of them I was able to see the resemblance of her to me – but I think its really because she’s working on her own “bowl” cut of a hair style right now…

Ok, I see it too...

Ok, I see it too...

So yeah, from the hair cut, to the look/expression, right down to the part in the hair…

The Bathtub Inside a Bathtub

January 22nd, 2010

So this is really what this blog is supposed to be about – whats happening over here.

See, there is this baby bathtub, it started out as an infant tub made of plastic and then we moved over to a tub that’s inflatable and belongs in a swimming pool.

The issue is that this inflateable bathtub is too big to fit in the tapered end of the real tub and we’re forced to use the removable shower head to fill it.

This is almost sounds great until you realize that the shower head is one of those water saving ones and the water isn’t exactly pouring out at an awesome rate. All of that combined with standing there, in this small bathroom with the water running. You might as well have ear plugs in because you have no idea whats going on 3 feet away from you outside the door let alone 10 feet in the living room or 20 feet to the kitchen. So while you’re listening to the soothing sounds of the water in a plastic air filled tub – the dog – is licking Abby’s fingers while Abby wastes her finger food to learn coordination skills.

Which brings us to today.

I have been trying to figure out how to get the shower head to just fill this tub without running wild or leaving it to its own device.

- It won’t just stay in one spot so its watering everything when you let it just hang down.
- It doesn’t have a narrow enough of a stream to just land in the center of the plastic tub, so water ends up everywhere.

Last weekend I decided it needed to be tied to something – but the question was to what ?

Enter the bungee cord;
- Built in hooks
- Tension to allow the shower head react to the water flowing out of it.

But Most importantly. It now fills the tub allowing you to do whatever you want.

Oh – and if you get distracted because you have a baby covered in food, the water just fills up the baby tub and overflows into the regular tub.

Christmas 2009

Here is Christmas Day at my in-laws.  The photos are all the ones that I posted on Facebook – but I know that not all the family is friends with me on facebook (or even have facebook accounts for that matter) here is the holiday in a minute and 30 something seconds…

Enjoy.

The Blizzard of 2009

December 22nd, 2009

So, as we are sliding right into the Christmas weekend and coming out of the weekend that left 2 feet of snow in most parts and 3 and a half feet of snow drifts at the house…

It’s only proper a little slide show get set up for all the mayhem that this Blizzard of 2009 created…

More Holiday Photos…

December 12th, 2009

Abby is now in full swing of “I’m not going to just stand/sit in this thing” phase so when I’ve got 4 minutes of her in the exer-saucer stand up contraption –
I tried to take full advantage of it…

Also, while these are holiday photos – they are not yet the holiday photo that has been taken and designed by our friend Alison – we’ll have that up soon too.

Oh, and the reason you’re here – The Photo:

Some Christmas…

December 7th, 2009

As this will be the first year we have a child for Christmas it was brought up that Abby be included in the Christmas Photo.

I’m a bit torn because Lucy, the West Highland Terrier, being the first “baby” of the family is getting bumped from her spot. Lucy is getting bumped from a lot of her spots of which she’s been handling it relatively well, just a few ruined and chewed toys to handle right now. But the bump from her shining star moment on the Christmas Card kinda sucks… And I hoped to get them both in  a photo.

So far, its not working out.

Here are some out takes of the session from the weekend:

Some Video’s

December 3rd, 2009

Pushing some video’s to the video section.

We have been noticing that Abby sometimes rejects the bottle during her “breakfast” and ” Dinner ” times
where she also gets some baby food along with a bottle…

So, Katie got this food that basically dissolves but it doesn’t seem to dissolve that fast, because
Abby basically gags and chokes on it…

Yeah – Good Times…
